When the Trees Are Down

Clear Cutting in Washington

When all the trees have been cut down,
when all the animals have been hunted,
when all the waters are polluted,
when all the air is unsafe to breathe,
only then will you discover you cannot eat money.

  1. British Columbia, Canada, is the Brazil of the North — hundreds and hundreds of miles of nothing but clearcuts — it’s like looking at death in the face.

    • This location is close, it is in the state of Washington. It is as painful to see as it is to talk about Genie
Your thoughtful comment is greatly appreciated. Thank you Genie

  2. Eddie, this is a wonderful post on your blog, it needs to be read by thousands, so will try re-blogging and sharing on my Facebook page. Thanks for sharing this blog, best wishes and blessings, Charles.

  3. Sad and true. Eventually and hopefully nature will recuperate whether humankind is still found on this planet or not.

  4. It won’t matter. Some greedy, heartless people won’t be satisfied until everything is gone, every last twig and breathing being. And still, they will try to find something to destroy and kill. How do we stop them? I always thought we could stop them but now, I’m not so sure. By not standing against them in number, we have become part of the problem and the designers of our own fate.

    • Maybe so.
Maybe not. I can only speak for myself.
My day begins with every effort to work
with nature rather than against it.
Thank you very much for you comment.

  5. What an impacting image! I am doing a lot of reading recently about the pulp and paper industry and the early history of logging in the Ottawa Valley. This photo really brings things full circle. Thanks Eddie.

    • Things changed plenty around there like any where. Maybe some good change is happening now.
Thank you very much for your kind and most interesting response Gwen. Peace in the New Year, Eddie
