New Clothes

Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes.

  1. If we can’t be who we really are, and need the pretence of outside adornment, perhaps to give a false picture of ourselves, that is sad and forced.

  2. I hate to say it made me laugh, but it did. I think it’s the “REQUIREMENT” of new clothes that’s the clincher. New clothes aren’t a bad thing in themselves, just the reason behind them. Interesting how we all take something different away from a single sentence.

  3. I love this quote. I understand it to mean that new clothes are superfluous and if one needs new clothes to impress, then be aware that it might not be as “important” in the grand scheme of things as suggested. Of course, this could be the reason why I don’t do well at interviews.
