A Hunger for Love

The greatest disease in the West today
is not TB or leprosy; it is being unwanted,
unloved, and uncared for. We can cure
physical diseases with medicine, but
the only cure for loneliness, despair,
and hopelessness is love. There are many
in the world who are dying for a piece
of bread but there are many more dying
for a little love. The poverty in the
West is a different kind of poverty —
it is not only a poverty of loneliness
but also of spirituality. There’s a hunger
for love, as there is a hunger for God.

  1. Where I live, kindness is rare. She lived here in my city and taught us something different… a little kindness goes a very long way. Love is the only truth worth being true.

      • My thought on love is that we are love and as we move through the world we are loving in our deeds. Always taking a moment to be thoughtful and kind wherever we are sent. Broken hearts come from expectation and the old saying is that expectation is the cause of suffering. Was that Buddha? It made sense to me but I am not enlightened yet. čÖé Still learning and so much of that is from you.

kindness is always welcome
