Being Alive

We’re so engaged in doing things to achieve
purposes of outer value that we forget
the inner value, the rapture that is associated
with being alive, is what it is all about.

  1. Very true, the rapture associated with being alive! I guess most of the time problem is when you are not allowed to be rapture to taste that rare ecstasy of life. No matter how much I try to make other’s happy and be happy myself something or the other is always a hindrance. Do we need to be little selfish to enjoy life?

  2. What lovely trivia cryptomathecian provided! Wow; I’ll now view the philodendrons with even-more respect.

Your title reminded me of a kenny chesney – dave mathews duet:
    ……….
“So damn easy to say that life’s so hard – Everybody’s got their share of battle scars
As for me, I’d like to thank my lucky stars – That I’m alive and well….

It’d be easy to add up all the pain – And all the dreams you sat and watched go up in flames
Dwell on the wreckage as it smolders in the rain – But not me, I’m alive.

And today, you know, that’s good enough for me
Breathing in and out’s a blessing, can’t you see
Today’s the first day of the rest of my life
    And I’m alive and well
    …..
Stars are dancin’ on the water here tonight – Good for the soul, and there’s not a soul in sight
This boat has caught it’s wind and brought me back to life —Now I’m alive and well……….”

Today I am in the city of Guayaquil – lovely to visit the city, but makes returning home an even greater embrace in nature….

Lots to share/update, but still juggling lots of coconuts – most of them are rewarding ones!

Hope your weekend has been a lovely one!
    Lisa

    • Totally fascinating and valued, your comment illustres how various
thoughts on the matter have provided inspiration for many.
My holiday and weekend has been beyond description.
Thank you for your kind and very thoughtful remarks Lisa.
Have a most peaceful day dear friend!

  3. Philodendron is Greek for Lover of Trees. Combine this picture with a quote that invites us to search for the meaning of life and you get a reference to The Tree of Life. Tree of life theories are associated with different aspects of life such as religion, science, mythology, philosophy, etc. The meaning associated with the tree of life can change in different contexts. In various mythologies, theologies, and philosophies around the world, the tree of life is used as a motif or symbol to represent many different qualities. The concept of the tree of life is also used in reference with the phenomenon of evolution. The phenomenon is used metaphorically to explain the theory of common descent. Darwin’s tree of life is an important theory to consider in this area of study.

    • Sharing and adding this vital information is greatly appreciated. Many of us
have certainly heard of the Tree of Life, but the connections with it
and the Philodendron are very interesting. Thanks so much.
