The Hidden Paths

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate
And though I oft have passed them by
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun.

  1. The first part describes my afternoon! With the aid of a ‘family member,’ I drove to a wildlife resecue center that was way way way in the country… We drove up up up on a narrow blacktop road and then along the ridge way up high.. turned right at a cruz, and took the gravel along the spine of another amazing area of geography.. then finally the rescue center, complete with shaded trails, rare birds, one sick little bitty howler monkey… the return trip was via even-more rustic roads – dirt, and so dry b/c of the dry season that the brakes were protesting w/the thick dust.. and down down down down….
ah.. that’s when one awakens, when every curve, every view is as if seeing the world for the first time!

It will be great to take the journey west of the moon and east of the sun, though until then i suppose i’ll go north to the mountaintops and south to the valleys!

    • Those almost lost miles deep into nowhere produce profound and lasting memories that can
change your life making the broking bumpy trip well worthwhile!
Thanks so much for sharing Lisa. Such an exciting life!!

      • Yes, it’s just not possible to get in touch with the quiet stirrings in one’s soul – if there’s no silence…. Straying way off that beaten path will definitely awaken the senses as well! Am now heading to a Bingo game with neighbors – their way of putting aside a little money each week for the end-of-year celebration!
